Using the ICAT Metadata Catalogue for the Publication of Data at HZB
Rolf Krahl (HZB)
Abstract:
The [ICAT Metadata Catalogue](https://icatproject.org/) is one of the central components for the implementation of the Data Policy at HZB. The ICAT schema has been significantly extended in 2022 with version 5.0 to include the bibliographic metadata according to the DataCite Schema for data publications. In this talk, we will give a short overview of ICAT, its data structures and how we deploy it at HZB. In the second part of the presentation, we will consider data publications, which is a separate service that HZB offers to its users. We will discuss the technical implementation of data publications using ICAT and we will particularly point out the difference between raw data collected from measurements at HZB's instruments and data that is submitted by HZB users for publication.
