Tau is special among the leptons, as it has the unique property of decaying into hadrons. The recent progress in Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics allows nowadays to compute from the first principle the inclusive decay rates into specific flavor channels, specifically the decays $\tau \to X(ud)$ and $\tau \to X(us)$. In this talk I will review the novel methodology involved, based on HLT framework, highlighting the potential for a precise determination of the Cabibbo angle based on inclusive tau decays into hadrons.
