RH outlined the latest news:
1) Large chunk of project money to be spend with some contraints.
2) Preparing new instance for P10: towards a scicat system with several beamline users. Status and next steps.
1) A list has been circulated and filled by DAPHNE communities in concern (TA1 and TA2) collecting all required features. Until yesterday they could fill in their suggestions. See

Goal of today’s meeting was also to clarify and give room to DESY’s SciCat community and comment on their requests, especially those that potentially cost a lot in terms of time:
- Igor K emphasized he suggested to make a research opposing both databases, MongoDB and RavenDB.
- Paul M stressed the point that it is important to have a good DB support and here at DESY we have a dedicated IT group for PostgreSQL. He made the point to identify showstoppers.
RH commented that there will be costs to change the ORM (a layer between the application and the database) from currently mongoose to something else, e.g. TypeORM that enables e.g. other relational DBs like PostgreSQL: one would loose the full potential of mongoose (the current ORM we use) and MongoDB.
RH described the procedure for the funds: This week we consolidate the list, I will iterate where necessary with Max and together with Bridget who is in the background clarifying administrative issues. They (CAU) will set up a contract with the company, Max had good experience with. Once the contract is signed, the list is fixed and tasks are prioritised the idea is to define deliverables during the initial phase and report back every three months. ESS will supervise the work and a DAPHNE person will closely follow the implementation of the requested features. This shall all be done within a timeframe of 1 year.
2) Old P08 instance, running the new backend, has been renamed to a more general naming to comply with the idea having several beamlines data in one database. P08 keeps ingesting to p08 for now. First thing to check is e.g. authorisation. It was OK for P08 and P10 to proceed like that. Next steps, Mora will define the list of metadata, will present it on 30th of September and Jan K will set up the ingestion for these meta data.
