Conflict Management - 11 & 14 October 2024
Conflict management training equips doctoral students with the skills to manage disagreements and tensions that may arise in their research environment. PhD projects often involve collaboration with supervisors, peers and other researchers, which can lead to conflicts over ideas, resources and expectations. Effective conflict management helps students to manage these challenges, maintain positive relationships and create a constructive and supportive working atmosphere. It also promotes resilience, better communication and a more productive and collaborative research environment.
Aims and content of the workshop:
- What is a conflict and what options for action do I have?
- Conducting criticism and conflict discussions - in a way that is compatible with the relationship and factually clear
- Recognising and breaking through conflict dynamics
- De-escalating conflict situations
- Case work and participants' concerns
