RH shared the latest news:
1) RH summarized and showed features collected from DAPHNE in five main tasks. Many cover DESY issues, others cover issues for the SciCat project itself. Consolidated list to be presented to DAPHNE speaker. It is planned that RH will be the main contact person as DAPHNE representative to whom Max Novelli reports to (who as ESS in-kind contribution supervises the implementation of the requested features) every two weeks. Nicolas Hayen will be the deputy. The amount of available time is not entirely sufficient to cover everything requested, thus RH committed to take over some tasks, some other could not be considered at all. These were presented.
Reporting back to the DAPHNE community to be synchronized with project coordinator once the contract is signed.
2) From presentations and conversation with NOBUGS conference participants, obvious things became clearer: it is very important to 1. have metadata for data and 2. have them in a standardised way. Standardised metadata and open data are like a door for tools based on AI improving the physics model enabling e.g. to narrow a certain temperature range if one knows where a certain phase transition will take place. RH found it impressive that ESRF and ILL tools like TANGO, VISA and ewoks are used by an international community, they seem to be on the leading edge for developing software tools. Please you as a beamline scientists do not hestiate to contact them.
PM highlighted one session on metadata and catalogues, icat and scicat. Also he mentioned that efforts are made to standardise metadata is at a federated level within the panosc project.
Ingestion part for P10 metadata are still to be done. Also some issues with scicat-petra-test.desy.de was observed – to be followed up.
