X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy Beamlines P64/P65 at PETRA III: Second User Workshop.

As part of the PETRA III extension DESY is planning to build two beamlines dedicated to X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy. Beamline P65 will employ the radiation form a relatively short undulator; beamline P64 will use the radiation from a 2 m long insertion device, a wiggler or an undulator. P65 mainly aims to substitute the currently operated beamlines at DORIS III which have to be closed when DORIS III operation is stopped in the end of 2012. The end station at P 64 will provide facilities for new experiments like Quick-EXAFS with sub-second time resolution and XAFS spectroscopy in extremely diluted systems. The workshop aims at presenting the conceptual design of the two beamlines and discussing the plans with their potential users. Fundamental parameters like energy ranges, energy resolution, beam size, special sample environments etc. were already discussed during a users' first workshop in September 2010. In this workshop your input concerning additions to the existing plans, the infrastructure and instrumentation in the experimental hutches is requested. Also very important is a discussion of the best suited insertion device for beamline P64.

Workshop fee
There will be a workshop fee of € 30.00 for all participants except for invited speakers. The workshop fee covers refreshments on both days as well as the workshop dinner on the evening of September 29, 2011.

Participants are asked to arrange travelling and accommodation on their own.
We strongly recommend you to book your accommodation as soon as possible. Booking accommodation at DESY Hostel is only possible via the guest house registration form.

The program will be finalized by the end of August 2011.

Please, register and pay the workshop fee until September 21, 2011.
