Abstract: 

Collective behavior and quantized EM field are trademarks of strong matter coupling in a cavity. I will discuss several paradigmatic models of matter interaction with a vacuum cavity and describe ways that nonclassical states of light and matter can be generated and transferred, and when noise may ballistically spread excitations in a multimode cavity.
