Baltic Science and Innovation Day - Satellite meeting to the DESY Photon Science Users’ Meeting 2025

The Baltic Science and Innovation Day on 20 January 2025 is a key follow up event of the DESY and European XFEL delegation travel on 9-13 September 2024 to the Baltic countries, to initiate and deepen the cooperation with the 9 visited partner institutions in Tallinn, Tartu, Riga and Vilnius.  It was discussed and agreed to invite our partners to Hamburg, along the combined DESY Photon Science Users´ Meeting and European XFEL Users’ Meeting 2025.

Aims of the Baltic Science and Innovation Day:

• discuss and identify research topics where intensified bilateral or multilateral scientific cooperation is jointly intended and kicked-off for the next years
• identify schemes for staff exchange activities specifically for young scientists/ PhD students; joint PhD-tutoring
• discuss access and participation schemes at Hamburg light sources: PETRA III, FLASH, European XFEL and discussions towards a “Baltic Beamline @ PETRA IV” project
• explore possible funding opportunities for bilateral and multilateral joint activities and agree on first proposals

 

Participants:

Roughly 40 scientists and participants from Hamburg metropolitan area and Baltic countries.

Accommodation:

Participants are asked to book their accommodation autonomously. We recommend the DESY hostel (first come, first serve) or Mercure Hotel Am Volkspark (special DESY rate available: €108,70 per night, incl. breakfast. Please book via email to H1659@accor.com and indicate that you want to use the DESY rate).
