Having a PhD in mathematics, Heike worked for 4 years as a postdoc at the university of Giessen,  focusing on cryptography/electronic cash. In 2004, she started at Philips/NXP Semiconductors as a cryptographer working on projects like smartcards for identification, banking, trusted computing. Since 2013 is working as a professor for mathematics at the Hamburg university for applied sciences.
