The aim of this series is to empower post-docs at DESY with a powerful tool for enhancing their communication skills across various career paths, including industry, academia, and research. In these diverse fields, effective communication stands as a common denominator for success. The Assertion Evidence approach, a transformative method for slide design, promises to revolutionize how technical concepts are conveyed, understood, and retained.
Building on the foundation set in the Assertion Evidence Info Hour presented in February 2024, this session will dive deeper into practical application. The primary goal is to give participants the chance to enhance their mastery of the Assertion-Evidence approach through hands-on practice and real-time feedback.
The session will begin with a brief refresher on the Assertion-Evidence method, which will also serve to introduce the concept to any participants who were unable to attend the previous info hour. From there, we will transition into the interactive portion, where attendees will rework 1-2 slides from an existing presentation, applying Assertion-Evidence best practices. Participants will then share their progress with the group for constructive feedback.
This session is specifically focused on experimentation and practical implementation of the Assertion-Evidence approach.
