Description

ATTENTION: New location.

DESY, Campus Zeuthen -> Humboldt University, Campus Adlershof
Due to an unexpected and extensive power outage at DESY, Campus Zeuthen, the meeting had to be moved to the HU Berlin at short notice.
The hostel rooms on the Zeuthen Campus have also been cancelled. All persons concerned have been informed personally.

We are sorry for the inconvenient.

CC: Weizmann-Insitute of Science

We are pleased to announce a ULTRASAT community workshop, designed to engage the scientific community in Germany to the exciting opportunities presented by the upcoming Ultraviolet Transient Astronomy Satellite (ULTRASAT). With a unique combination of a wide field of view (204 deg²) and near-ultraviolet (NUV) sensitivity (230-290 nm), ULTRASAT promises a new window for transient and variable source astronomy. The science targets include supernovae, AGNs, TDEs, as well as stars and exoplanets, along with multi-messenger astronomy and cosmology.

This event will provide a platform to discuss the unique science opportunities made available through ULTRASAT’s unprecedented capabilities. The workshop will explore avenues for collaboration, including follow-up and auxiliary observations and theoretical developments with the goal to maximize the scientific impact of the mission. Opportunities for the German community to join as collaboration members will also be presented.
