Learn how to create a business model based on your research and improve your pitching skills at our next PIER Startup Workshop “Business Modeling, Pitching & Storytelling” for early stage researchers (doctoral researchers and postdocs), taking place on 11 April 2025.
In our workshop we show how business models can be built/designed from ideas or research results using state-of-the-art tools. The methodological focus will be on the Business Model Canvas, the Value Proposition Canvas and System Thinking. In the second part of the workshop, we show how pitching can be used to create a connection with the audience through storytelling and to inspire them with your project. Not only will different pitching methods (pitching with tools, pitching without tools, sending a pitch deck) be examined in more detail, but the different target groups will also be analyzed and it will be explained how the participants can optimally adapt their pitches to them. There are two essential success factors: 1) consideration of the respective target group and 2) storytelling. The workshop offers a mixture of theoretical input and creative practical and group work.
The aim of the intensive workshop is to familiarize the participants with the methods for creating business models and power full presentations and to practice the application of the models using examples and business ideas from the plenum.
