Regina and Tim presented the two different ways for DOI minting processes planned at DESY, scopes and timelines. DOI for any public data validated by community from anywhere in the world: public-data.desy.de, and DOIs for FS for all DESY data only, fs-data.desy.de.

 

Discussions take aways:

1. public-data.desy.de is/will be a community driven catalogue for curated data (being one the differences to zenodo).

2. Do we need SciCat to get a DOI? (SD) Yes, if datasets are published, meaning registered with a DOI, they need to be in an internal SciCat (RH/LP).

3. Aspects concerning the productive internal SciCat were mentioned especially regarding the automated ingestion, automated DOIs reservation. The details will be followed up in a separate meeting once the pilot is out. 

 

Timeline envisaged for pilot for FS, that will work with manual interference: End Q1/2025.

Timeline planned for public-data production likely earlier, ie in Q1/2025.

We present what FS and IT agreed upon concerning DOI minting service at DESY. Mainly, the work is performed by IT-RIC and IT-InFa and covers two different scopes and timelines.
