Starting from Sept. 01, 2024,  DESY requires each employee to fill personal time-sheets. This is a legal obligation that DESY must fulfil.  Everyone should be in position to show the form to the administration upon request.

For the moment, the working-time recording is be done on an Excel/LibreOffice spread-sheet. (In mid 2025, an online system might be put into place). The spreadsheet can be downloaded at the following link (intranet only).

The file can be opened and edited with Libre office that is pre-installed on most linux systems, and that can easily be installed on MACs too. The file can also be saved on the DESY cloud, which offers appropriate software to fill in the form.  In any case, there is no need for a separate microsoft license on our own laptop/desktop.

Instructions are included in the file.

Below are some important points of the work law currently in place:
- Standard working hours are between 6am and 9pm on weekdays. Outside this  timeframe, a request should be sent for approval to the group leader.
- Work on Saturday is tolerated. Work on Sunday is forbidden.
- A minimum of 11 hours of rest has to be respected from one day to another.
- On average, people with a full-time contract have to accumulate 39 hours of work a week.
