9:02 – 10:02

Regina reported on highlights of the first round of DAPHNE Contribution to SciCat (DCS), in 12 reports Max Novelli (ESS) reported to Nicolas and me which of the features were being implemented and which progress was made, e.g. the implementation of proposal hierarchy lead to the implementation an additional tab that displays the beamtimes associated to a proposal. Summary: Most of the tasks were completed, some were not (task 3 and task 6) but they are kept for the second round of DCS. Instead other tasks could be completed that were natural to be done but not thought about initially.

Discussion for the next round: to make SciCat useful focus further on

- user interface: making the search for scientific metadata easier accessible.

- DOI minting process: changing lables (not name DOI-field DOI, if not registered), move buttons, include more DataCite fields, etc.

It became clear that some more definitions about the DESY workflow are necessary concerning PubDB of L (or its successor respectively):

L, together IT and FS, should be defining and implementing a service that communicates to the user the workflow of a DOI registration. Action: Regina is going to contact L.

Discussion on data access:

In the view of providing a DOI minting service at DESY, there was some discussion on data access from SciCat.

SciCat offers only integration possibilities to a storage service that handles preferably automated data access by sending SciCat jobs to an external service. DESY has to agree on how this service shall look like and what features it shall have, form a task force for this topic.

FS is interested in DOIs for (selected) data that have been taken in the past 3 years. IT and FS need to allocate time and resources to find a person that deals with getting this data into SciCat. Form a second task force for this topic.

For DESY to benefit from the second round of DCS both these new groups should be quickly be formed. Time frame of DCS2: 4 months. Generally Regina called everybody to reach out and make your missing feature known to me and Nicolas for the second round of DCS.
