Please register for the tour (registration button) in the period 25 July - 5 August
We will have a tour of the XFEL experimental site in Schenefeld. The tour includes an introductory talk and a visit to the experiments.
Starting time of the tour is 10 am at Schenefeld but you have to start at DESY around 9 am to make it there in time. We trust that you find your way from DESY to the XFEL site (Holzkoppel 4, 22869 Schenefeld) with public transport, e.g. using this geofox link.
Please take note that it will not be possible that all ~90 summer students take the same bus (the HVV buses are simply not big enough), so please form smaller groups and take different buses starting at different times and/or locations.
If you don't have the Deutschlandticket you could organise yourself in groups of up to 5 person sharing a HVV daily group ticket ("1-2 Ringe" for 15,60 Euro) which you should buy beforehand (e.g. we strongly recommend to use HVV-App and purchase the tickets with it)
Meeting point at XFEL will be in building A at the location of the defibrillator, see the map below - this is at the front desk of the main entrance. There you will be fetched by the XFEL tour organizers.
Please take note: Clothing and bags: Flat, closed shoes are mandatory in the experiment hall. Larger bags and rucksacks cannot be taken into the experimental hall, lockers are available. Photography for non-commercial purposes is allowed. However, please do not take pictures of staff members unless they explicitly agree. Accessibility: Barrier-free movement is possible during the tour. Food, drinks and souvenirs are available in our company restaurant BeamStop.
