Isabell: discussion about SHIP, for instance the Silicon-Tungsten target, like a CALICE type of calorimeter Maybe integration could be at DESY in the DAF. Physics is FIPs and PDFs from neutrinos. On Silicon there is Bonn interested. Discussion starts beginning of 2026, proposal by June 2026.
KOTO is also interested in DESY participation, there is already some EU participation (Mainz from Germany)
Leave it open in the proposal? Something with development of new calorimeter technology for an intermediate project? We have different options and this is our priority.
Ties: for a new projects, looks long-term engagement if people.
Cigdem: Detector workshop in Zeuthen 6-8 October at Zeuthen, on detectors
Ties: the Startwerte are defined inside the laboratory, so “competition” is inside the laboratory, no competition among the centres here. Correcting starting values for all labs are based on evaluation but usually it does not change much, just recommendations what to change inside the labs. But it is still at the discretion of the management. Overall the labs has to be evaluated successfully, so each program also individually and the whole centre profits.
Isabell asks where the numbers in the table at beginning of Topic 2.2 come from. Ties said this will be decided around November. FTEs are calculated in a very different metrics )e.g. PhD are not included, differently from what Karsten shows in his charts). So we get those numbers.
We should ask if we should write “we” or “DESY” or “DESY scientists”
Axel: say that in PoF V we could have a breakthrough in axions etc. and DESY plays a leading role and we have an exciting time. Breakthrough from HL-LHC maybe happens in PoF VI.
