The optical frequency comb is one of the most significant laser measurement tools ever realized. It has made routine the counting of the oscillations of light and enables the measurement of time with 18 digits of precision. This is all done with lasers well described as classical states of light, which causes us to ask: What are the standard quantum limits in frequency comb metrology, and in what scenarios might they be surpassed?
