CANCELED: 5d SCFTs, local CY3s and Brane Webs

I will review two string theoretic constructions of 5d SCFTs. Geometric
engineering via local Calabi-Yau threefolds (CY3s), and Type IIB fivebrane
webs (with sevenbranes). For toric CY3s and branewebs the duality between
these constructions is easy to see when studying the Coulomb branch of the 5d
SCFT, yet the Higgs branch is more elusive. If time permits we will see what
progress has been made in understanding non-toric brane webs.
