This training course teaches practical techniques for voice, body language, and confident presentation—both in person and online. Participants practice dealing with nervousness, strengthen their impact as speakers, and receive individual feedback. Ideal for preparing for presentations, meetings, and various communication situations.
The following agenda provides an overview of the planned content of the training. Individual programme items are subject to change. It is also conceivable to split the workshop into two half-days.
Block 1 – 9:00–10:30 (90 min.)
Focus: Dealing with stage fright and stress, effective body language, use of voice, breathing techniques, self-awareness as a speaker, greater confidence when speaking, understanding and addressing imposter syndrome.
Block 2 – 11:00–12:30 (90 min.)
Voice training: voice warm-up, key VOICE techniques, exercises on speaking speed, variation and projection. Recording and feedback session. Tips on protecting your voice at conferences.
Block 3 – 13:30–14:45 (90 min.)
Gestures & spatial impact: Physical warm-up, targeted gestures, use of space, dealing with technical conditions, eye contact, short exercise units.
Block 4 – 15:15–16:45 (90 min.)
Presentation practice: Short prepared presentations with group feedback. Conclusion and further recommendations.
Block 5 – Online training (90 min.)
Best practices for digital formats: technology, platforms, efficient interaction, use of voice, visuals and facial expressions, articulation and speech guidance. Tips for different types of events such as lectures, meetings, informal rounds or Q&A sessions.

Elena Kaufman is the founder of Creative Communications EK where she trains academics in the soft skills of presentations, job talks, and interviews. She also runs a weekly improv theatre course for scientists and is a trained stage actor and director.
