Description
Using the explicit example of su(3) (or rather sl(3,C)) we will recapitulate the upshot of Reinke's talk last week. Then we'll discuss the following topics: Dynkin diagrams and what they are good for; irreducible representations; branching rules, e.g. embedding of the Standard Model spectrum in a SU(5) GUT; tensor product decompositions, e.g. to describe invariant couplings in GUTs.
