News

NAF status

problems:
- /tmp filled by jobs from one user logging to /tmp
- network problems due to routing changes by DFN
NAF 1.0 status:
- SL 5.9 ready for testing; will be deployed soon, please test
- two blade enclosures added in HH (bought by University of Hamburg, BMBF)
- downtime planned:
  - March 11 (SONAS), batch queues will be drained
  - March 12 (network affecting Lustre, SONAS, dCache, AFS)
- user submitted jobs from outside users via pilots by using an official tool
NAF 2.0 stats:
- talk at DESY DV seminar ...
- other HEP communities might join (BELLE, HERAFitter)
- CMSDAS in January took place on NAF 2.0, worked well
- getting access and accounts:
  - users have to be entered in PersonenInformationsPool to get an account
  - how to deal with external users that do not have a PIP entry?
    - user fills web form authenticating via web interface, accepts computing rules
    - checked by experiment representative
    - PIP operator enters user
    - account added to registry in adequate namespace
    - users informed about account ready
  - how are they organized in the DESY registry
    - new namespaces for external users
    - naming scheme is approved
    - will be created soon and integration into the resources will be done
    - supervisors and administrators will be assigned (should not cause much extra work) - SONAS news: - quota management tool is approaching final stage - current status: - total assigned storage close to maximum available storage, use overcommitment?

Lustre space in ZN and HH getting full

CMSDAS went well, no problems seen

started testing NAF 2.0 with ILC/Calice software
tried NX remote desktop, worked well
home directories on SONAS have different groups based on primary group

nothing to report
