Summary
Large FEL facilities like FLASH offer a limited amount of beam times to scientists. Table-top FELs would allow more scientists to access X-ray beams, thus enhancing research for reduced space and costs. Such a table-top FEL may be fulfilled with accelerating electrons with an energetic THz source to relativistic energies and make inverse Compton scattering to produce X-rays. This talk will be focussed on the generation of the ultrashort pulses for electron emission and on the high energy drive laser for efficient THz generation.
