Vocal Power and Physical Presence
20 February 2015
Where should I stand? How can I project my voice? Am I communicating my message in the best possible way? These are common concerns when giving presentations or talks in any field. This workshop will focus on strengthening vocal power and physical presence through exercises on projection, enunciation, variation, and breath control. Relaxation techniques, physical grounding, posture awareness and gestures will also be practiced. Students will leave with a tool box of exercises and clear goals for continued improvement.
Elena Kaufman studied classical theatre in London and contemporary dance in Vancouver. She integrates directing skills and performance techniques into her classes as an English lecturer at the University of Hamburg. For the MEd teachers-in-training, she incorporates presentation skills: body language and vocal power, confidence, and control. She has also taught courses to PhD's and Post docs at the Fachsprachenzentrum (University of Hamburg Language Center) on the art of giving talks and dealing with nerves. Elena Kaufman holds an MA in Drama (Toronto), an MSt in Creative Writing (Oxford) and is a member of the Hamburg Players theatre improvisation troupe.
