Workshop "Leading in Academia: Evidence based leadership for women"

Leading in academia: Evidence based leadership for women

Goals:

  • Developing and understanding a personal leadership style
  • Exposure to the latest leadership styles and relevant research
  • Leading in all directions
  • 360° leadership

Method:

Using the latest research, this workshop provides an overview of existing leadership strategies and related challenges. This evidence based approach identifies and applies reliable research results to develop an informed understanding of leadership. Differences in personality, cognition, gender, and culture can all play a role in how we see ourselves as a leader and how others interpret our behavior. Finally, we cover how we can best leverage our knowledge to succeed in the face of the unique challenges of female leaders.
To establish a general understanding of key concepts and theories, a half day will be spent on leadership styles and leading in all directions. In an interactive presentation, we will then cover the challenges faced by leaders based on social perceptions and their impact on leaderhsip behavior and the interpretation of leadership behavior. Finally, through exercises and reflection, we will practice the tips and tricks to develop a personal leadership style.
