Dr. Annelie Wendeberg is an adjunct professor in microbial ecology at the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research Leipzig, Germany (UFZ), a science blogger (for Nature and Spektrum der Wissenschaft), and best-selling fiction author. - develop strategies for writing clear, concise, and persuasive papers and proposals,
- understand and target your audience,
- develop your writing style and routine,
- write with confidence and ease, and
- give, receive, and apply supportive, critical feedback on written work.
Agenda:
- Day 1: The quick fix – everything the (writing) scientist should know.
- Day 2: Structuring information for your readers; identifying (and writing for) your audience.
- Day 3: Data & story telling – turning complex science into compelling writing, and common mistakes in science writing you should avoid.
- Day 4: How highly cited scientists write (analysis & discussion of the provided publications).
- Days 1-4: Additional feedback sessions on your writing progress.
