Description

In this talk I will present the projected sensitivities of upcoming pulsar timing arrays (PTAs) to gravitational waves produced by first-order phase transitions. In contrast to ground- or space-based detectors these experiments are sensitive to phase transitions that occur around keV to MeV energy scales. Consequently, they are excellent probes of many types of light new physics contributing to non-standard cosmology. As an example, I will focus on a sequestered dark-photon model paying particular attention to the complementarity between standard cosmological probes and gravitational wave signals in PTAs.
