With a collaborative effort of DESY Library, DESY Fortbildung and Language Café teams, language magazines from ZEIT Gruppe are now available at the DESY library (building 1, https://library.desy.de/):
Do you need to strengthen your language skills in e.g. German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese (e.g. Mandarin or Cantonese), Swedish, Norwegian or any other language in the world or you just simply miss speaking your own mother tongue? Then please join us every two weeks at the DESY Language Café!
KEY IDEA: "Practice foreign language for free, while helping others improve in a language you are fluent in for free. And have fun!"
SESSIONS: In order to make sure that both participants and moderators get to practice their language of choice, the meeting is divided into 2 x 30 min sessions, where the 1st session is held between 13:00 - 13:30 and the 2nd session between 13:30 - 14:00.
MODERATORS AND PARTICIPANTS: At the beginning of every meeting we plan how to divide the participants in different language tables accordingly to the participants & moderators interests. Therefore we recommend to show up ca. 5 min earlier.
FREQUENCY: The Language Café is held twice a month, on Fridays from 13:00 until 14:00.
COST: Participation is free of charge. All involvement by the organizers is made on a voluntary basis. In case you would like to assist the organizers in further development of the project, you are also welcome to sign up to be a moderator for your mother tongue or any other language you speak well, as well as to join the Orga-Team.
REGISTRATION: The registration is always open. Please keep in mind that you only need to register for your very first visit to the DESY Language Café. If you have already registered to a previous language Café meeting, there is no need to register again. At the moment we have around 100 registered participants, who show up whenever they have time. Every meeting we have ca. 15 attendees.
FOOD AND BEVERAGES: Free water, coffee and tea with some pastries are kindly provided by PIER Helmholtz Graduate School (https://graduateschool.pier-hamburg.de/).
QUESTIONS AND SUGGESTIONS: If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via email@example.com or approach one of the organizers.
