Description
In transformation optics, ideas from general relativity have been put to practical use for engineering problems. This lecture asks the question whether in return ideas from atomic, optical and molecular physics can give new insights into the connection of general relativity and quantum mechanics. In particular, the lecture discusses experimental tests of Hawking radiation and of the Unruh effect of accelerated observers.
