Description

Frank Boyd from KTN (you can find a short Curriculum at the end of this email) will talk on Innovation Effectiveness, describing the Innovation Canvas developed by KTN to support innovation ideas.

Innovation Canvas: Innovation is almost always a discursive, exploratory task: often untidy, full of missteps, blind alleys and changes of direction. No simple, step-by-step recipe can ensure success but there are processes which innovators can adopt to help them navigate difficult terrain and use as a guide to progress. KTN’s Innovation Canvas is one such toolkit, distilled from the experience of its unique network of innovation specialists. It is designed as a diagnostic filter that enables a project leader to identify urgent challenges and prioritise activity.

Frank Boyd is an Innovation Specialist at the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) where he is working on a project to capture best practice in innovation and to develop resources that provide practical help for business. He was previously one of KTN’s Directors with responsibility for its programmes in Creative Industries, Digital Economy and Design. Frank founded Britain’s first digital media lab in 1989 and has worked as a producer, funder, consultant and educator on creative and economic development programmes in the arts, broadcast, and in education in Europe, the US, Canada and Australia for over 30 years. He has directed innovation labs for Channel 4, the BBC, Ogilvy, the British Computer Society, Innovate UK, Nesta, Screen Australia, the Canadian Film Centre and the Wellcome Trust, amongst others. Frank has unrivalled experience in enabling collaboration between creative professionals from different backgrounds, facilitating the ‘fusion’ of art and science to drive innovation.
