Description
The Peccei-Quinn axion solution to the strong CP problem implies the existence of spontaneous symmetry breaking at a very high scale. In this talk, I will discuss under which conditions such breaking can result in a first order phase transition of cosmological and phenomenological relevance, possibly within reach of future gravity wave interferometers. Models at both weak and strong coupling will be discussed.
