The Transatlantic Big Science Conference aspires to create opportunities to renew and reinvigorate historic collaborations between scientists and organizations on both sides of the Atlantic and to empower transnational research communities to pursue transformational, sustainable solutions to global grand challenges.

The inaugural conference was held in Washington DC in 2022. The program, jointly organized by Carnegie Science in the US and DESY (Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron) in Germany, brought together international scientific leaders, researchers and policymakers working across disciplines. The conference highlighted a wide range of exciting new research and led to important conversations on how scientists on both sides of the Atlantic can collaborate most productively.

Since that first conference, the Transatlantic Big Science Conference steering committee has been working to move these conversations forward and find the most effective and innovative ways to build lasting connections between researchers on both sides of the Atlantic.
