Description
We show that, given the absence of significant experimental departures from the Standard Model predictions, simplified models of new physics have to be reconsidered. We then argue that an effective field theory approach to LHC data is timely. In particular, we discuss the current LHC bounds on four-fermion operators, the comparison with previous low-energy data and the matching to concrete ultraviolet completions.
