Welcome to the registration site for the Women's Career Day 2016 for doctoral candidates and postdocs. In four tailor-made workshops you are invited to develop and strengthen key skills that will be very useful for your present and future professional career, be that within academia or in business and industry. The trainers are carefully selected experts with many years of experience in teaching scientists.
The workshops run parallel from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and are reserved for female researchers from the research fields of Universität Hamburg's MIN faculty, DESY and associated research centers.
Please note: The number of places for the workshops is limited, and the allocation of the available places follows the "first come, first served" principle. Your registration is pending until the final confirmation from the organisers, which will be e-mailed to you after the end of the registration deadline on 15 February 2016.
Extra: Keynote speech and get-together on Thursday, 18 February 2015, 6 pm, CFEL with Prof. Louise Morley, Director of the Centre for Higher Education and Equity Research at the University of Sussex, UK. Prof Morley will talk about "Troubling Intra-actions: Gender, Neoliberalism and Research in the Global Academy".
Neoliberalism underpins the global academy, where research is economised and financialised, and knowledge is valued for its commercial, market, and financial benefits. As neoliberalism casts people as human capital who must constantly tend to their own present and future value, Prof.Louise Morley asks if this neoliberalisation of research has different consequences for women and men. Does it reinforce gendered binaries of winners and losers in the global knowledge economy?
