Description
Observing primordial gravitational waves requires large-field models of cosmological inflation. I will discuss the difficulties in implementing models of large-field inflation, and the possibility that transplanckian physics is 'censored' in General Relativity. I will discuss recent conjectures along these lines, and some indirect evidence from studies of global cosmic strings which exist in some inflationary models.
