Aummary of meeting on Jan. 4th 2017
- We approved the minutes of the last meeting
- Jenny presented the polarimeter studies at HERA and at the ILC in slides. In particular she presented the schikane, consisting of 4 sets of dipole magnets in the middle of which there is the electron-beam laser IP. Jenny in particular hihlighted the urgent need of the energy spectra and rates of electrons, positrons and photons for doing any real design studies. Andreas and Tony commented that they hope to have this at latest for the next meeting but maybe before
- Matthew talked us through the list of questions, and we further extended it and attached names to them. The goal is to provide preliminary rough answers to all asap.
- We discussed what we learned from the XFEL tunnel visit. Evgnei showed the drawings of the shaft at XSDU1. We are all very happy that there is this shaft and that also inside the tunnel the space available appears to be sufficient both for guiding the laser light to the experiment and for the experiment itself. The basic important conclusion is that there is no obvious show-stopper! Some more detailed questions arose which are now part of the list of questions.
- We discussed the timeline. The goal is to have a LOI type document by the end of 2018 in a draft form to share with the directorates of DESY and XFEL. The funding options need to be discussed. BH will discuss with Joachim Mnich.
- We will have the workshop at DESY on Aug. 22/23. BH will make indico and then invitations will be issued. Everyone should think about further people we want to invite, please!
- Next meeting will be on Feb. 1st at 10am and the one after on Mar. 1st at 10am
