Description
In this talk I will motivate the use of analytical resummation techniques in particle phenomenology. First, because we can obtain more precise (higher order) results than from a parton shower, that are systematically improvable.
Second, because it is possible to compute robust uncertainty bands for these analytic results, which is fundamental to compare theory with experiments. Then, I will present a simple example of resummation in practice, with the calculation of a jet mass distribution. Finally, I will present other applications of resummation (Higgs qT spectrum, threshold, ...) in order to highlight the general features of this technique.
