Analysis Centre seminar: Markus Diehl: Multiple parton interactions in QCD

by Dr Markus Diehl (DESY)

Europe/Berlin
Description
Abstract: Multiple parton interactions, where several partons interact in a single proton-proton collision, are expected to play an important role in many observables at LHC. Their current phenomenological description largely relies on a number of relatively simple and physically intuitive assumptions. I report on an investigation of multiple hard interactions in QCD, which aims at identifying to which extent the above mentioned picture arises in the theory, and where it needs to be extended. Issues to be discussed are: power counting, interference phenomena, color and spin correlations, and Sudakov suppression. ------------------------------------- DESY Hamburg, 16:30 ___________________________ EVO connection: Title: Analysis Centre Seminars Description: Analysis Centre Seminars Community: Terascale Phone Bridge ID: 1312410 Meeting URL: http://evo.vrvs.org/evoGate/koala.jnlp?meeting=MaMDMt222sDeDi9M98DI9a
