Communicating in International and Interdisciplinary Teams

You work in an international team where its team members have different cultural backgrounds? You may have noticed habits at work, which were new to you - some might
have been different than you are used to.
In this seminar you will learn how cultural habits influence the work of international teams. You will reflect on your own international working environment. In the process, you will also define the cultural aspects that you have in common with people from a different cultural background, and identify the ones you do not share.
You will learn to understand the way your colleagues and projects partners act and react. This will make you feel more secure when acting in an international setting.
What you will learn in brief:
• Rules and principles for the successful cooperation in international teams
• Cultural Dimensions at work: What are cultural dimensions and how do they influence
our daily work
• Reflecting on one’s own culture: Me and my surroundings; what is my background,
and in what ways has it shaped me?
• Communication at work: Basic principles of a constructive and objective-oriented dis-
cussion technique in international teams
• How do I deal with irritations on work? -Strategies for the clarification of discrepancies
• Challenges and areas of conflict in international teams
• Giving and receiving constructive feedback
