This CREMLINplus Workshop is devoted to the integration of the USSR into the European community of advanced light sources. The USSR4 (Ultimate Source of Synchrotron Radiation) project aimes at the construction of a diffraction-limited 4th generation synchrotron light source in the Protvino (Moscow) region. The accelerator complex will consist of a 6 GeV storage ring (SR) with a horizontal emittance < 70pm and a full-energy linear accelerator for top-up injection. The same linear accelerator will be also used to drive a free electron laser.
USSR4 is a Russian national project; nevertheless the facility will be open to the international scientific community. The goal of the workshop is to present the current status of project to the League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources and start discussions on the next steps to incorporate the USSR4 facility into the landscape of European light sources.
