In this workshop, you will learn advanced methods of python for scientific computing. As a pre-requisite, you should have some fundamental experience with using Python in your life as a scientist. The workshop includes the following specific topics:
- Handling large data sets with Pandas
- Introduction to parallel computing with Dask
- Fundamentals of Machine Learning with TensorFlow
- Version control with Git
- Good programming practice
- Performance aspects
- Advanced optimization and fitting techniques
- Bonus I (if time allows): Advanced techniques for data visualization
- Bonus II (if time allows): Symbolic calculations with SymPy

This workshop is reserved for participants of the of the PIER Graduate Week 2022. The PIER Graduate Week is open for all PhD students in the PIER research fields and takes place on 21-24 February 2022.
