In this workshop, you will learn advanced methods of python for scientific computing. As a pre-requisite, you should have some fundamental experience with using Python in your life as a scientist. The workshop includes the following specific topics:

  • Recursive Functions and runtime problems
  • Memoization
  • * and ** in parameter passing
  • Decorators
  • Lambda Operator, Filter, Reduce and Map
  • List Comprehension
  • Sort and sorted with custom made sort criteria
  • Iterators and Generators
  • Context Managers

This workshop was originally reserved for participants from the waiting list for the advanced Python course of the PIER Graduate Week 2022, but is now open to all interested PhD students and Postdocs of PIER and its partner institiutions.
