Module 1:
The Concept of Leadership in Academia
• Introduction: my experiences with leadership
• What really works – diving into some theory about what works best in leading people
• Lateral leadership in academia – how to support students
• Active listening skills - and why they are the key to influencing behaviour
In this module we will look at the different challenges for leadership in an academic environment. We will give you an introduction into what works well in lateral leadership – based on models, examples and experiences. We will practice some communication skills and give you the opportunity to exchange your experiences with your colleagues.
