Basics of intellectual property (IP) rights for software developers and scientists.
This workshop will deal with the following possible topics and questions like:
- what can be protected by copyright law?
- rights of the author / copyright holder; rights of the employer
- difference between copyright, usage right and exploitation right
- what to consider when
- using software / code from others (open source, closed source, commercial license, no license),
- distributing software / code (own code or from others),
- integrating code from others in my own code,
- exploiting my own code
- what can happen if I violate the rights of others
- commercial usage or exploitation of software / code (open source is not necessarily an exclusion criterion)
