Getting to DESY Hamburg

The DESY Hamburg site is located in the Bahrenfeld quarter of Hamburg's Altona borough. See directions for all options to get to DESY. (Google Maps, OSM). For getting around at DESY, see the interactive campus map.

DESY Hamburg has two entrances for guests

• the main entrance near to the HVV (Hamburg public transport) stop "Zum Hühnengrab (DESY)"
• side entrance (with a video bell to the main entarce outside of the core hourse) near to the HVV stop "Luruper Chaussee (DESY)"

If you are new to DESY, please head to the main entrance as the guards can help you with questions and give you directions.

If you come by train or plane, the best option to get around in Hamburg is a daily ticket from one of the HVV (Hamburg public transport) vending machines or through the HVV app with a +5% discount (Android, Apple). If you have a 49€ Deutschlandticket, you will need no dedicated HVV ticket.

By Train

From the main line stations "Hamburg Hauptbahnhof" or for a subset of connections "Hamburg Altona", you can reach the DESY campus main enrtance via

• if you arrive by train at Hamburg main station: take the 'S1' S-Bahn train in the direction of "Wedel" and exit at the stop "Othmarschen" to take bus line '1' in the direction of "Siversstücken" or "Rissen" and exit at "Zum Hühnengrab (DESY)"
• if you arrive by train at Hamburg-Altona station: take directly the bus line '1' in the direction of "Siversstücken" or "Rissen" and exit at "Zum Hühnengrab (DESY)"

If you arrive by plane at Hamburg airport: take the 'S1' S-Bahn train in the direction of "Wedel" and exit at the stop "Othmarschen" to take bus line '1' in the direction of "Siversstücken" or "Rissen" and exit at "Zum Hühnengrab (DESY)"

By ridesharing

In most parts of Hamburg Moia offers ridesharing shuttle taxis, that can be hailed through their app (Apple, Android)

Accomodation

On site, the DESY hostel has a numer of room to offer. There are a few hotels in the general vicinity and a large number of hotels in Hamburg as such.

Meeting Rooms

The meeting will take place in Room 7a in Building 7. 

•  Monday we meet in Building 7 in Room 7a (ground floor)
• Tuesday Building 7 in Room 7a as well (coffee break redirect to be finalized)
• Tuesday we meet in Building 35 in Room 35/108 (first floor) (fall back room for Tuesday)
