We will have a tour of the XFEL experimental site in Schenefeld. The tour includes an introductory talk and a visit to the experiments.
Starting time of the tour is 10:00 a.m. at Schenefeld.
The best way to get there is with public transportation. Please use the DESY Nebeneingang on Luruper Chaussee. Take Bus number 2 in the direction of Schenefeld, Aneken (not Achterndiek, and not bus line 3 or X3) to it’s the last station. Continue in the direction of Osterbrooksweg, and take a right turn at Holzkoppel (approx. 5 min walking).
Please note to wear closed, flat shoes for your visit to the experiment hall. Large bags and backpacks cannot be taken into the experiment hall, but can be stored safely on site.
Since we are about 60 persons we should split into two groups 30 persons. We all will meet at 08h59 at the line 2 bus stop "Luruper Chaussee (DESY), near the DESY Nebeneingang (Luruper Chausee).
- group takes the bus starting at 08h 59
- group takes the bus starting at 09h 19
All details can be found on the HVV (company for public transportation) site.
Those of you who already have a valid public transport ticket like the "Deutschland-Ticket" should go with that ticket. For all others we recommend that you travel in groups of 5 people with a daily group ticket. Please organize that yourself in advance: form groups a 5 persons and buy a ticket, e.g. online at https://shop.hvv.de/index.php/product/348/. Please keep the tickets and return them to Carolin Groetzinger and they will be refunded, but please travel with the group ticket.
Meeting point at XFEL will be in building A at the location of the defibrillator - this is at the front desk of the main entrance.
The tour finishes at the XFEL site around 12h30 and you will need about 30 minutes for commuting back to DESY.
