Description

Beam-plasma interaction constitutes the fundamental part of ongoing laboratory astrophysics studies employing highly energetic and powerful laser pulse systems. These efforts are primarily directed at understanding the plasma processes involved in several astrophysical phenomena e.g cosmic-ray acceleration at collisionless shocks, polarised radiation generation in gamma-ray bursts, among others. Beam-plasma interaction is also essential for building advanced plasma-based particle-accelerators and fast-ignition fusion. This talk presents some of the key results highlighting the plasma processes involved in the beam-plasma interaction and their implications in these aforementioned areas.
