Numerical simulations which require high-performance computing facilities play an important role for several research communities at DESY, namely lattice QCD, theoretical astro-particle physics, accelerator research, photon science. At the Zeuthen site massively-parallel computers have been made available since the early 90s. Most recently a 1152-core PC-cluster has been installed.
The planned workshop has the following goals:
- Obtain a better understanding of the most important applications and its computational requirements.
- Discuss the status and options for further enhancement of the HPC infrastructure in Zeuthen.
- Discuss new models for supporting the relevant research communities.
