Dima presented his workflow performing of photoemission spectroscopy experiments using SciCat and highlighted issues they have. For them metadata is critical to understand the experimental data. The workflow reaches up to publication.
Discussion:
Authentication issue (not being able to access data on Maxwell with own credentials while it works with the ingester account): token validity, can be configured. Kerberos vs scicat token compatible? Is this actually the problem?
Potential solutions: DOOR accounts to be taken by new DESY registry, federated login, other?
Different approaches when searching: Paul emphasised that SciCat’s primarily task is to find data (from a scientists point of view), Fabiano added also those who operate beamlines are interested to find data (similar to P08).
Paul asked about the FLASH definition of a dataset, the short answer is that their DAQ system ties serveral runs to a dataset.
Comment by Christopher: Python API that Dima is using was a just a demo project.
Serveral other wishes for future, eg summary table, migration of previous ASAPM taken data to Scicat?
Next Monday no meeting due to SciCat General meeting in the afternoon (13-15 Uhr):
