Description
In recent years, the problem of finding a practical non-perturbative definition of the energy-momentum tensor (EMT) in lattice QCD has received new attention. A precise knowledge of the latter would in fact open the way to many interesting phenomenological applications, ranging from the QCD thermodynamics to the structure of the nucleon. In this talk, I will present a novel approach to the non-perturbative renormalization of the EMT. The strategy is based on the formulation of the lattice theory in a moving reference frame. I will focus on the case of Wilson-fermions and discuss the related issue of the O(a)-improvement of on-shell correlation functions of the EMT within this framework. Furthermore, I will outline the application of these novel ideas to a precision determination of the QCD equation of state.
